5 questions to find out more about this site...
About the site IceSkatingPassion.com
It's not always easy to take up a new sport... either as an adult or with your children.
I wanted to create a resource site that brings together in one place full of practical information on skating for beginners and enthusiasts alike:
- which skate to choose,
- which accessories to use,
- how to take care of your skates,
- how to get started,
- understand what you see on TV,
- finding a gift for her skating enthusiastic grandchildren...
I hope it will inspire you.
2. Who writes this site?
My name is Claire.
I skated for 12 years when I was younger.
I have also been an instructor with children, coached a few adults (non-professionally) and was an ice dance judge.
You can find out more about me with the following questions.
3. What was my skating "career"?
I started skating at the age of 5 thanks to a school trip.
Mom was against it because my brother had done a year of figure skating that went very badly. But apparently I insisted...
I practiced ice dancing for 12 years. I quit when I left for graduate school.
I skated up to the pregold level and passed my medals up to the silver level.
Here is a picture of me at the very beginning of my skating career and at one of my last competitions:
4. Why ice dancing instead of figure skating?
I've always been more of a dancer than an acrobat.
My family's sport was badminton and I used to dance on the court...
Ice dancing was about grace and music and sliding. A sport that gave me a lot of pleasure!
It was the ideal sport for me - especially with training at 6am because I have no problem to get up 🙂
5. What is my favourite skating figure?
Hmm. That's a tough one.
When I was a little girl, I loved the "foot in hand". I used to do it all the time.
When I was older, it was another simple movement that had no name. It starts with a little eagle and ends with a nice cross-footed spin with a nice arm movement.
